But of course the elephant in

But of course the elephant in the room is the second qualifier for Canada. Word has it that National will not (at this stage) agree to allow the Canberra shoot in 2019 to be the second qualifier. As it is a late Easter next year, and we won't know the qualifiers until after the 2019 Nationals it is going to make travel arrangements an almighty rush.
Watch this space - we are far from finished with this matter.
A precedent has already been set when one of the WBC's was in the USA. I see no reason why it cannot be done again.

Qualification

I am only new So these are just my thoughts.
It’s interesting why the Australia Day shoot has been dropped as a possible second qualifier for Canada and was wondering if ssaa National is possibly forcing upon the the shooters the need to hold a nationals in NSW no later than late January.
If the shoot is in July the only registered match prior is the Australia Day shoot .
Unless a quick nationals is placed somewhere in NSW late in the year and agreed too .
An interesting topic looking forward to reading more on the matter .

That is not an option, as the 4 gun Nationals are locked in to the Easter long weekend. Has been since the first ten target Nationals at Para Range in 1973. We need the four days to complete the four events.

Qualification

Australia Day has been looked at due to the competitors needing time to chamber barrels, organise accommodation & flights, potentially import/export permits to transit the USA and maybe meet as teams for a practice in a registered match or just at a range.
It is an expensive exercise and most like to prepare the best they can. Predominately you pay your own way $7k+ just to go and then if you update some gear etc more $$$$. attend as many matches here you can more $$$ etc etc

Also National always take a considerable amount of time to approve the teams. I have no idea why this is the case.

This was all brought up at the Delegates Meeting with the Discipline Chairman - Dave Billinghurst advising that he is going to National to get Aust Day Approved.

So their is no Conspiracy theory I am afraid.

Nationals

The Australia Day shoot is odviously the only option for the second qualifier . That being said where does that place the nationals on Easter weekend more to the point where will it be held ?

Very good question

I understand Sydney Branch was contacted in regard to Silverdale, but apparently there was no reply from Mr Walsh.

2018 nationals

Just to put it out there.
Peter From CBRC put his hand up to host the 2018 nationals at his brand new purpose built range and I was informed by SSAA that they aren’t interested and it’s to be held at Coffs Harbour.
Odviously a couple of people have their noses out of joint about the range being built and they have made the decision based on from I can see nothing but blind arrogance.
Central NSW has been starved of match in a central location for to long .
I understand Coffs is a great range and run by great people. But come on folks, travelling just about to Queensland to shoot a match every single time is just stupid and odviously a cop out when there are 2 ranges capable of holding world championships 1 hour from Sydney.
And a lot more central than a 6.5 drive to Coffs from Sydney .
I am not interested in all the I love and I hate politics of the shooting community .
Refusing to hold a nationals at CBRC is ludicrous and as a group we should demand a reason as to why . Like I said , just putting it out there
