Slide

I have the JJ slide which was great on a 20 inch barrel. The thing i liked was the ability to move the collar for large changes to get in the ball park then refine from there. Couldn't bring myself to dock it to tune for length, far to pretty.

Rules on noodles with holes

Bill I am no expert on all the rules but Barry Hillzinger owned a Pappas Slide as I also do
He told me that all the holes drilled in the side of it were against the rules for RBA and SSAA ?
So I have never used mine, could you confirm this is incorrect ?

Think Barry wrapped tape around the outside of his but that sort of wrecked what they were designed to do
I am sure they would work well as all the stuff that Pappas Company make is very high quality

Don't think there is any such issues with the mid barrel tuners though and saw many fine shooting rifles wearing these in the USA

Hi Ben

The holes are only not allowed in Tra Benchrest both Rba and Ssaa they are fine. Many top shooters use them and many have taped them and found they work great so just leave the tape on... Try it and see how u go...I should have samples for the big matches later this year.

Pappas noodle

I was at the forefront of this noodle being accepted by RBA and SSAA Benny. TRA base their non exceptance on ISSF rules which prohibits any extension tube for the barrel from having holes in it. All based on Prone shooting.
I read the ISSF rules from front to back several times and could not find a single word that mentioned Benchrest or anything that could relate to it. However, some TRA shooters at club benchrest events insisted that they were illegal and referred to them as "Muzzle Brakes". I have no idea why anyone would want a muzzle brake on a .22 but there you go. To keep the peace we wrapped our noodles. Soon after my objection to their interpretation of this noodle TRA changed the name of their benchrest events to " TRA STYLE BENCHREST and still disallow these terrible muzzle brakes because they provide an unfair advantage.
They are perfectly legal everywhere else Benny and they do work and NO they are not muzzle brakes.

Holes in noodles

Ah yes, i was using one in SSAA, but a few years ago i started shooting TRA & a few eyebrows were raised. I quiet word was all it took to consign it to the safe. Put some masking tape over the holes one practice which just made it louder. Maybe thicker tape would do the trick. Didn't know it was officially against the rules (thanks for the info) so wasn't about to rock the boat at a new club.

too late

Aw man, just sourced a plastic tube with no holes to fit last week. I haven't tested it out yet.
My rifle is only at a club level, but it shot its most consistent with the slide on.
Pity the Harrell tuners are more difficult to get over here.
Bill was there a change in export rules or was there an export licence obtained?

Hi mate

I believe Jess got the license as she is now solely selling her products personally not through anyone else as i understand it. Here in OZ though she wants to go through me...
