Random idea” Top gun league “

Here’s something to think about .
A benchrest competition series that both centrefire and rimfire disciplines join together and shoot a series of comps that require both centrefire and rimfire shooters to shoot in Both catergories.to accumulate points
Say a centrefire 100 & 200 group shoot match , then a IRB rimfire shoot and a 200 fly shoot followed by a 100 score shooting match in both rimfire and crntrfire to finish the series.
Unlimited scope power and all rifle weights must be under both disciplines heavy limit
I know your all gonna say I don’t have a rifle for both disciplines well I am sure most centrefire shooters have a .22 of some sought and I reckon most rimfire shooters own a centrefire rifle as well. Come up with a point system that covers everything . Winner is top gun . A good way compete in both disciplines in a fun way.
Just a random idea.

Great idea

I spoke to Bill Collaros about this some time ago.

My idea was for rf shooters to supply rifle for cf shooters and visa versa.

Maybe do a 2 gun.

Do you think that would work?

Rob.

I think to be fare about your

I think to be fare about your idea Rob, you would have to number the guns, and then put those numbers into a hat and people pick a number out of the hat and thats the gun they use.

2nd thoughts

What if someone borrows my RF, they would be at a disadvantage as i dont have the knowledge as others do in finding the best ammo lot. Everyone would want to use the top RF shooters rifle, as they have put in the time and effort to find the best ammo. I think it should be bring/use your own rifle. I know we are not shooting for big prize money or cattle stations, its just a fun friendly club shoot. But i think everyone should have a chance to win or place on their own merit.

Maybe as part of a varmint for score shoot when cf and rf shooters are there already?

When i was up at colo before

When i was up at colo before christmas i ask Peter about fly shoots. He replied that because fly shooting is a SSAA event he can not hold a "fly" shoot. Now i dont know if he changed the fly to lets say a Duck,( seeing how the range is on a duck farm) or just a small black dot, and slightly change the design of the target, if he can hold it. But i took what he said as, that if its a SSAA comp he can not hold the same comp.

Fly.

Pete is planning to hold 300yd comps using a mosquito as the target
And I suppose a 200 mozzie target may work also.
In regard to the centrefire/rimfire combination ,I even thought teams could be formed randomly drawn from both rimfire and centrefire entrants .
Each team having a rimfire competitor and a centrefire competitor.
This could solve a few equipment issues if sharing was possible.
I think this would eliminate a super team if shooters were able to pick team mates themselves, I think there would be a few unbeatable combinations if we could choose our own.
It would be good to involve fly shooters into the comp as well I just haven’t come up with how to do so.

Teams

Teams with coaching at the bench could be a cool novelty then you wouldn't be leaving your prized rig totally in the hands of a random. Also good for sharing knowledge. I've always liked to see how others go about shooting a card & picking a wind condition.

300

Like attached - 300 Mozzie Target
Same rules as 500m Fly

Victoria has been shooting that for a while I believe at SSAA RANGE - Little River

Great idea

It would be a great concept. I think most BR shooters would enjoy the challenge and would be great to mix it up with various disciplines.

Top gun teams league

Do folks think running the event over 2 weekends or just focusing on 1 would be best ?
