I'm now booked in at the Poplar Tourist Park, Camden. May not be too close to the range but it is close to the RSL where food and drink are excellent and cheap. Don't want to miss out at this late stage.

RAIN AND WIND

IF the forecast is right, rain and wind 20km to 30km should make things interesting with no return to sighters possible or allowed on the electronic targets. So IF the forecast is correct the shooter with wind skills and courage will certainly earn the title of Australian TRA Benchrest Champion 2019

The match is 12/13 days away, so a bit early to be looking at weather forecasts. But a bit of wind works for me.

Hope you read the wind flags better than you read a weather forecast.

Looks like light winds mainly coming in from the left. If so we could all fighting elevation issues.

Yes I was there all morning and not many BR shooters there very quiet.

I’m using my best match barrel and it hasn’t been on the action since the Brisbane WC and its going ok. I didn’t know what these 9 things are that you are talking about, I haven’t seen them. My scores yesterday would of been 600.55 and today 600.54

In the past I always shot higher scores in matches than practice, but this is only my second match in 2 years so we’ll see how things go Sunday and Monday.

Peter

PS my last match was the state championship on this range in 2017 and I did win that one.

I shot this morning in a strong left and right wind was only a 598.55 but that digital scoring helps when you drop a 9 or 2 in the wind, see attachment.

I did shoot a higher score with a different lot in lighter wind on Sunday so I should be competitive at the nationals.

That 106.5 was in left and right wind, with those 10 shots I just picked the hold off right every time, more good luck than good management.

It is nice for a change to

It is nice for a change to score the targets in the decimal type format as only a computer scoring system can achieve this
But really love the whole top eight after two days finals pressure shoot for National Champion
Its different and refreshing and very exciting to watch as the person that gets eighth can win the Gold medal for the over all title
Nice to get out of the miss a shot and your out type matches but haven't seen this happen recently

Pretty sure the way Darren was shooting last year he would have won either way, but that pressure match is something

Barry Heilsinger came in eighth after two days in the Queensland titles years ago and went on to win it .
He finished with two 10.9 shots the man had ice running through his veins I am sure

All the gear and no idea

Great to see some banter on this thread TRA Nats prestigious.

Not sure who is coming but soon we will see who is this years TRA Benchrest Champ, Mexicans have the reigning champion and he will be there, there are some Sand gropers coming, not heard if there will be any Kaos or Hornets coming and of course we will have some old timers (like me & Peter) trying our best to get some National Glory back to NSW.

I'm the only benchrest

I'm the only benchrest shooter from WA. We are still waiting for WAPOL to give the safety certificate for the indoor range. One prone shooter and one junior only shooting some events due to study.
I'm excited and looking forward to competing and catching up with my wonderful shooting friends

I believe next year will also be Sydney but wait till it's confirmed

Bill Collaros
Maureen

You will represent WA well, based on the last few years u will be right up there with Morgonopoulos in the betting, watch out for some Calm Kaos from Frosty and of course Peter should never be underestimated, then again I hear Annie has been shooting real well and she has snuck up on everyone else before too... Should be a great Nationals, there is a Party Saturday Night @ The Range and a Pool Comp @ Pritchards Hotel for anyone keen to lose some money. P.s. Did i mention the Bitch is Back too ?

Entries

Hi Billy
Do you know if anyone has a entrants list available?

Peter Armstrong Mk1
Yes there is a list and it

Yes there is a list and it should of been available this weekend so any day now.

I hear 34 shooters, 2 details one starts at 9am the other at 11am and there has been a bench draw. So some of us will start at 9 others at 11 so when the bench draw is posted we’ll all know what bench and time we start.

And before anyone asks NO I haven’t seen the draw.

Finals and day 2

Gday all.
I know that i dont normally post very much here.
But just thought i would confirm a things.
There is no finals for the TRA nationals. Scores you shoot will be the place you finish.
Decimal scoring will be used. Our system does not allow for match scoring any other way.
The draw for day 2, will be worked out after all shooters finish day 1. With the top scorers shooting 1st on Monday.
Hope this helps out a few.
Cheers
Fred Blacker

Fred

No one has said anything about how things will be done on the Monday, what you said sounds good and works for me.

The scoring machines will score decimal or old school 10 and 9’s just depends on how you program it before you shoot.

Peter

RBA HoF #1 (2007)

FredB
Peter

Hi Peter.
Scoring machines will only score "normal" when in free series. Ie. Each machine running stand alone, not being able to controlled by the main control computer and not being able to score and rack against other lanes.
As soon as it is put into Match from the master program it will go to decimal points as all ISSF international matches are score this way, and that is what the system is designed for.
When you arrive, the system and match will all be set.
All you will have to do, is switch it off sighters when you are ready to start shooting the match shots.
1h 15mins total time, including sighters. Indervidual can start match shots when they are ready.
I have spent a lot of time setting everything up this past week, and these are all the details i needed to know so that i could fully test the system. (This is the only reason that i know how they are running it all)
Fred
