Irb Day 1

An amazing 750 from Sully and great shooting for top half of the field. For the the 2nd half the curried sausages were great and more wind training is needed.

Congrats to all the winners with another special mention to Paul Sullivan who has attained a matching IRB Hall of Fame to his Centrefire one.

IRB Nationals

Congratulations to all shooters who competed in this tournament and well done Coffs Harbour for hosting the event. I must single out Paul Sullivan for a magnificent effort and such a fantastic result, and special acknowledgement to Glen Seaman and Kim Costick, for their great shooting as well. It is interesting to note that in the IRB, second, third and fourth place were separated by only 10 dots. Great shooting indeed and congratulations on the results

Big thank you to all the Coffs Harbour Club volunteers

We would like to thank all the Coffs Harbour Club Volunteers for their great work and unselfish work to conduct the 2023 Rimfire Nationals. Especially after backing up immediately after the doing the Centrefire Nationals. What a great job and what a great club.
But it is wearing people out and the day needs to come soon where it becomes a user pays situation and maybe events become organised and run on a commercial basis to make the effort and work viable and so the local club members can also actually compete. A situation like this may well attract some people or particular group of people to do this. It happens overseas. These are my thoughts, any others?

Worn out

I think most agree that the current situation regarding ranges is still the issue.
Silverdale range was to be the immediate answer to relieving Coffs Harbour at least at a NSW state level .
Sadly NSW firearms had there range inspection last November and are still to advise Sydney Branch of any changes they require as to the layout of the range .
The aftermath of major flooding in early 2022 caused the concrete slab at the 200 line to be completely washed away and requires the reinstating
of the slab for the setup of competition target frames.
Understandably the range doesn’t want to invest in the reinstatement on the slabs if NSW firearms turn around and completely change the current range template.
Silverdale range is only shut down on 1 Sunday per month and this is the only time works are able to done once answers are received from NSW firearms registry.
We were hoping to hold the NSW titles in June of this year but as one can see time has run out to achieve the work required.
We have a guarantee form Sydney branch and the range management that they are 100% in support of holding matches back at Silverdale and we look forward to taking some of the pressure of the Coffs Harbour volunteers as soon as we can . Regards Chris Clarke

Having recently attended the

Having recently attended the Benchrest Nationals at Coffs Harbor, I too can express my admiration for the way in which this Club continues to turn on first class events. The BR Nationals ran superbly and it is a credit to Rod Madeley and his crew of helpers.
Having run a number of Nationals, etc myself I can attest to the fact that there is a lot of behind the scenes work that has to be put into these events.
We must be careful however that we don't flog the willing horses to death - volunteers are always welcome at these big matches.
If we want this sport to continue, we all need to put in.
