Barry Hilzinger - RIP

PASSING OF BARRY HILZINGER

Very sad news, iconic rimfire benchrest shooter Barry Hilzinger has passed away yesterday (Saturday 15 October) following a long battle with cancer.

Barry was a good friend and mentor to many shooters and will be remembered for having a "heart of Gold" and was always doing someone a good turn.

In his own right Barry was in the very top echelon of rimfire benchrest shooters, with top placings in many big events over the years right up untill becomming ill ! He was a renowned carbon stock builder and rifle builder and also rifle tuner and his huge input into the sport will be sadly mised.

At the Coffs Harbour 4 day centrefire "Super Shoot" a fitting minutes silence was observed for Barry and also recently passed Bob Blacklock.

Barry will be sadly missed by all who knew him. We have lost a really exceptional man and good friend.

May we all extend deepest sincere condolences to Barry's wife Maureen and the Hilzinger family.

Barry I will miss you mate

Barry was the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable shooter I have ever had the pleasure of knowing in Rimfire Benchrest
But so much more than that he was such a terrific bloke.
I sure will miss not being able to talk with my old mate
Loved the bloke and so did everyone that had the pleasure to know him
Also at the TRA state titles today we had a minute silence for his passing
No one moved ,nothing but respect for him

My condolences to Maureen and their children

Very sad day indeed.

To Maureen and family words will not mean much at this time however please know the whole shooting fraternity are thinking of you and the good times they shared with Barry.

It doesnt matter how we know him Barry, Bazz, Hillzi, a great guy that was known to all that took the time to talk with him and take in his knowledge and advice.

Greg and I were lucky to have shared many exciting times with Bazz and shared lots of highs and if onlies, you knew Bazz well when you knew the choonk, choonk, choonk tales form targets just shot.

Bazz will be missed by all, his quite mannerisms, quick wit and checky grin, Rest in Peace old mate.

On behalf of all the Hornets Club members we offer our condolences. and deepest sympathy to Maureen and the Family.

Regards

Mick
