It is my sad duty to report that Roy Smith died in his sleep last night.
Those outside NSW may not know Roy, but he was a stalwart SSAA member, having previously been SSAA Sydney Branch President, SSAA NSW President, and SSAA NSW Executive Officer.
Roy resigned his SSAA positions 4 years ago to seek election to the NSW Parliament Upper House on behalf of the Shooters Party.
He was successful, and represented the shooters of NSW. In conjunction with Robert Brown (our other Shooters Party MLC) they were responsible to the changes to the firearms regulations made last year in regard to no waiting period for second firearms, hunting in state forests, and a number of other changes that all helped NSW Shooters.
In years past, Roy was a competitor, and shot both Benchrest and Silhouette.
We are truly diminished to lose such a dedicated member.
Rob.
My sincere condolences to Roy's family. This is a great loss to shooters in general.
It has not been a good time of late, losing some very good people.
