Monarto Nationals update

OK folks, it's getting very close now.

For those unsure of how to get there - the Monarto off ramp is about 12 km west of Murray Bridge on the South Eastern Freeway. Go to the top of it and head south on Ferries McDonald Road. Approx 1.6 km down the road you turn left onto Mountain View (dirt road) and there is a sign post stating Monarto Shooting Complex. Head east to the T junction and turn left at the sign and drive straight into the range. The benchrest range is the very long silver shed.

Look for me - I will be camping there from Monday 21st onward.

NOW....some housekeeping.

In the interests of good public relations and safety, camo clothing is not permitted on the firing lines.
Closed footwear MUST be worn on the firing lines.
Dogs MUST be kept on a leash as there are sheep on the property.

You should bring 6 inch clamps to attach things to the bench tops which are the reloading tables. 4 inch is marginal.

Alcohol - we have very strict alcohol regulations as part of our agreement with the Dept of Rec & Sport (who own the place).
Alcohol may only be consumed in the club house and camping area - NEVER in the reloading area and firing line section.
Any abuse of alcohol will be dealt with very severely. No exceptions.

Smoking - there is a State/District fire ban in place and as the range is tinder dry at the moment the utmost care must be taken.
There is absolutely NO SMOKING permitted in the benchrest shed (ranges 5, 6 & 7) or the clubhouse. The car park is OK.
Obviously we can't have any camp fires either, which is a shame.

Max and Billo will be doing the scoring in the clubhouse. They are not to be hindered or approached during their tasks, or Billo may politely tell you to 'go away'.
The wailing wall will be inside the benchrest shed on range 5.

I think I have covered all bases with the preparations, and hope that this is a memorable Nationals for all the right reasons.

I will have my mobile with me, so if you get lost or whatever please ring me 0400 282 394

Cheers

Forecast

One thing I know you cant do anything about, but what is the forecast for the weekend?
Will it be shirt sleeves, or rain coats?
What do you forecast, you will get the blame if it is wrong.
See you Tuesday

We have had very warm and

We have had very warm and somewhat humid weather up until yesterday. It is now cool and very windy. The weather Gods must have heard that there is a shoot coming up.
I suggest everyone bring clothing for both summer and winter - it is unpredictable at this time of year.

If it blows at Easter like it was today down at Monarto Max, you had better bring a 12 inch ruler for the groups!!
