BANANA COAST 2 GUN

Hi Everyone
Below is a summary of the Coffs Harbour Banana Coast match which ran over the last weekend. There were 25 NSW and 12 Queensland shooters competing for the Banana Coast shoot shield and the STATE OF ORGIN TROPHY (Queensland verse NSW).

DAY ONE (21/08/2017)-The event started with cold weather and less than perfect wind conditions. Regardless of the conditions the first relay put down some very reasonable groups with several in the mid ones. Dave Mckillop continued his good from form the last couple of months and led the way for the 100 yard aggregate with a very respectable .2399 aggregate. Jason Armstrong took out the 100 yard small group with a very respectable .145 group in the 4th which could not be bettered in the last relay. The conditions did not improve at 200 but Michael Thomson didn’t seem to mind sending down a screamer group of .235 in the first relay which could not be bettered by anyone. Ann Brummell was able to handle the conditions the best at 200 yards and put together a very respectable .2873 aggregate to win the 200 and secure the Light varmint win with a grand aggregate of .2783. Roger Marshall was second with .2832 and third too Wayne Atkin with .2883.

DAY TWO (22/08/2017) - Well we all woke up to very cold conditions on Sunday for the Heavy varmint match. The hundred yard small group was shot by Russell Gibson and with a .121 group there were several other small groups shot in the first three relays but conditions started to get the better of most of us by the 4th and 5th relay with Roger Marshall taking out the morning event with a very good aggregate of .2058. The 200 had stronger wind conditions and it was very easy to make costly mistakes. The 200 yard small group was a screamer won by Wayne Atkins with a .219 group shot in the last relay of the match. The 200 yard aggregate was won by Darren Parson .2512 and he has also took out the grand Aggregate with a .2483, second was Roger Marshall with .2536 third was Wayne Atkins with a .2688.
Two Gun
The Banana Coast Two Gun was won by Roger Marshall with an aggregate of .2684 second Ann Brummell .2765 and third Wayne Atkins with .2786.
Special mention of Wayne Atkins who shot extremely well all weekend well done , he doesn’t get to shoot often but he sure made up for it this weekend well done.

State Of Origin trophy

The State of Origin trophy was won by Queensland this year – I believe Queensland's first win in Coff's Harbour
1. Roger Marshall
2. Will Greer
3. Wayne Atkins
4. Dave Mckillop

We hope to see plenty of NSW supporters in Springsure next year to win it back.
The weekend was a great success and everyone seems to have a great time. I always enjoy the weekends at Coffs Harbour they run a excellent shoot, although I am hoping they shut the freezer door next year. Thanks must go to Sully who has been in everyone’s ear this year to make it to the Banana coast event. I believe everyone appreciated the extra effort you put in to organise the Queenslanders !!!. now stop ringing me on Friday night there is football to watch and don't forget to send me those Barts bullets.

Finally to Roger I think you have sealed the Shooter of the year again well done mate.

Sorry if i missed anyone and thanks to everyone that attended the shoot and helped with the running of the event.

PS more powder is always better.

Be good
Will Greer
