Queensland Cup

Well the Queensland cup has been run and won for another year
Actually there is no actual cup well not at least for the bench rest shooters
The cup is presented to the prone shooter that wins both days.

With the commonwealth games just around the corner it is an important time for the Olympic shooters and all the superstars were in attendance.
Warren Potent was there to help with the preparation of our Australian team men and women
I must admit that at first I wasn't sure it was in fact him so I introduced myself and said that he looked familiar
Very nice bloke and told me that he had actually been in four Olympic Games which is some kind of achievement indeed.

Anyway back to the competition, both days were hot and there was a fair bit of mirage happening which was at its worst when the wind died down
Sunday was the hottest and of course the worst for mirage, Didn't seem to bother Billy Simmons though as he shot very well and won the second days competition
Digs won the overall competition with a second place on the Sunday and beat out Billy by 0.1 of a point for the two days which he seems to be making a habit of as he beat Caden at the Queensland Champs by the same two day combined score

The range is looking really good now that it is finished and the next time we see it will be on the television for the Commonwealth games.
It was a fun little competition and the first three places were all within 0.6 of a point with myself getting the bronze.

I got first ,Murray Cole got second on the Saturday and Roy Muller got third
Billy got first, Dig second and Marley third on the Sunday

Young Marley Blacklock shot great all weekend and beat out Caden for top junior shooter which many of you know is a accomplishment as Caden shoots very well.

Fun competition and a good time was had by all, special thank you to Johnny Plazwald for helping me with my rifle he is a terrific bloke no doubt.

Actually just thought that was first second and third to Team KAOS as well.

Well it appears that the scorer must have gotten things a little wrong with the winning margin 2nd-1st as it was 1.4 not .1.

As Ben says, it was a good week-end's shooting although it was very hot and when the switchy winds settled, the mirage was something fierce. I must say I was rather glad to be shooting benchrest and not having to wear one of those heavy prone jackets.
Ben shot well on Saturday. Perhaps it didn't like that bore scope John Patzwald stuck up it's rear end on Sunday morning and decided not to play the game two days in a row. But then again Ann Bruton's rifle got it's 3 year service complete with rust removal etc from the same gun doctor and her scores improved significantly.
Roy Muller forgot the handle of his SEB rest on Saturday but he managed to shuffle it around with just the stub for 3rd. Might have been way harder shooting an RBA or IRB target like that rather than a single electronic face. We made him a temporary one for Sunday but for some reason it seems not to have helped. Perhaps it was the "knob" on the end that gave him some trouble. In fact he now knows what it feels like when Benny often says "I might as well have been sitting there with my .... in my hand". You fill in the blanks cause what happens at the range, only goes on Facebook.
In the end a great week-end with just 2 points between first and third. Makes for a great competition when it's that close.
Oh yes, Team KAOS took 4 of the top 5 placings on day 2 and the Top 3 overall.

Team KAOS - Catch us if you can! - Ya got no chance
