As many have asked what arrangements there are for Alan's funeral, I can report the following.
It was Alan's wish that there be no funeral - he did not want a fuss made.
No church, no Sky Pilot & and no formal burial.
His cremation will take place at Cooma today, and his ashes held for a private family affair when his sister comes back from the UK.
It is my intention to have a Memorial Trophy made (similar to the Ian Josselyn Trophy)which will be presented at the 2009 Nationals. A small ceremony in honor of Alan will also be held prior to one of the events - assuming that this is OK with the organisers and the Club.
A similar trophy will also be produced for a Memorial Shoot which will be held annually in South Australia.

Well done, I am sure the organisers will have no problem with this.
It will be a fitting tribute.
Will the trophy somehow incorporate a bottle of red?

Alan had some very fine bottles of red salted away. His prize possession was a bottle of 1990 Chateau Le Tour, which he had on his 'bucket list' to drink before kicking off. About a week before he died, I asked him if he would like to take it intravenously - but he declined.

Having been on the tiles with Alan on more than one occasion I couldn't imagine a better trophy bearing the title of the "Piki trophy"
and to be constituted entirely of Cork - Glass and Brass.
Can't wait to see what the Sth Oz crew come up with to remember Alan.
It will be sad at our monthly shoot at Canberra tomorrow not seeing his little yellow Corolla parked by the clubhouse.

Brendan nothing would be more fitting to remember Alan.
