Hi Kim,

Hi Kim,
Can you tell us who is involved in organising? Can you email me please.
I guess you know Billo is in hospital and will not be at this event now? So lots of things need to be done to replace what he does and was going to do. I (and others) have been asked by Dave and Ann Brummell on his behalf to assist now he is back in hospital.
No problem for us, we will help as I am sure many others will. But there are some things we cannot do. Annie and I will not even be there till Friday night anyway. We are entered in HV groups but we will both pull of that out of that now and help out on the Saturday. The draws appear to be done as Ann has sent those to me just now. But I don't have a Windows laptop (I run a Mac) so that won't work and I don't know how to run that program for scoring or draws anyway. I can help with some of the scoring and I have the tools. We will have to run a roster for IRB with some others to do scoring I guess. Everyone is shooting IRB.

I don't even have a clue who the SSAA NSW Benchrest delegates are anyway. Will they be there?
Anyway please flick me an email with some contacts so I can email them the stuff which Ann Brummell has send to me on Dave's behalf. Things like the Bench Draws.
Dave asked if I can run the meeting that has to be held and an authority for that has been supplied. I can do that as it's no big deal.
So I guess we need some volunteers to Help with scoring, check scoring, results service. I don't know about the target write up or whether he arranged that??? Things like label printing etc??
Anyway I am sure plenty of people will step up but it would help if we know who is in charge, who to talk to and pass information onto and who the State delegates are and if they are coming (as they should be or a proxy)

I hope to be at the range Wednesday evening.

In the absence of David I spoke with Stuart a short while ago. All queries sorted and bases covered. In short Keith Smith will act as Tournament Cpt and is the proxy BR Delegate for Group events. Stuart will assume the BR delegate role for IRB. Keith will be picking up David's computer with scoring programs along with labels, draws and other auxiliary items. Chris Parry is experienced with the computer program and has undertaken to attend to that chore.
Stuart and Keith are experienced and will work hand in hand in overseeing and co-op as required. Stuart will Chair a shooters' meeting on the Saturday night. Know that if any other assistance is required competent parties are available and willing.
Have a good time shoot small groups and many centrals

Some things now seem to have

Some things now seem to have been sorted out which is good. Keith Smith is appointed as proxy delegate for the two Group classes and they will have Dave's computer by then with all the details to run those matches. Targets, labels etc. So that seems good. Some other people have stepped up to assist also. Chris Parry is very familiar with that score entry program and has offered to help with that. Glenn Seaman has offered to check score.
For the IRB Dave has appointed myself as the proxy delegate.
So this covers the rules.

The SSAA Benchrest Rimire metting will be held on the Saturday evening. I have been asked to chair that meeting. There are 3 items on the agenda and of course there can be General Business too. Technically the meeting is for the Delegates or appointed proxies BUT, I would encourage any competitor to come along and listen. This will be an open meeting. I am also prepared to accept discussion from the floor on General Business items. Gneral Business items are referred back the the National Benchrest subcommittee.

Dave has asked that one thing needs to be pointed out prior to the IRB. In the rules there is a misprint in Rulebook #9 (the latest). Rule 5.5 where is talks about tape on the sandbags. Current print says "not permitted" which is contray to the World Rules and the wording should have said "tape on the sandbags is permitted". As per WBSF Rimfire rules.
See you all there. Any other volunteers gratefully accepted.

Week end wrapup

It's all over for rimfire for 2019. Hopefully everyone made it home safely albeit a slow trip for some heading south from Seaham on Monday afternoon.

When the dust finally settled, 1 person stood above the rest. 3rd place in Light on day 1, 8th in heavy on day 2 (just to prove he is human) and first on day 3 and day 4 with the overall IRB Champs win. And to top it off, he also won 2019 Shooter of the Year with his final performance.
Paul Sullivan is a machine. His performance in the IRB under those conditions was just - unbelievable. He gave us a lesson in shooting in bad conditions. Bec gave him a run for his money on Sunday but failed by 1 dot. Brett tried and failed on Monday surrendering his lead in the shooter of the year. Other than Bill and Greg, the rest of us might just have well gone to the pub for the day. Winning the overall by 15 points is huge and dropping only 2 points on Monday was a heroic effort in those conditions.
In winning he also cemented his place as the top qualifier for the 2020 World's in France.
I'm sure his sponsors were happy also that they contributed to his win. Megan Wheeler always paints the fingernail on his trigger finger and Roughie & Toughie lent him a matching lilac coloured shoulder bag to carry his ammo and bolt around the range. So not only does he shoot good, but he looks the part doing is as well.
Thanks to the Newcastle crew for hosting the event. From where I sat, everything ran like clockwork. Thanks to the crew who gave up their time to help especially to Juppy as CRO, Mr.Smiff as Billo's alter ego and the target crew who walked around 7km backwards and forwards over the 4 days. In fact they did such a great job, I suggested to Danae that she triple their salary for next year.
Thanks also to the guys who helped Mr.Smiff with the scoring(he gets a little stressed around technology). I hope you all got a piece of his chocolate he squirrels away in the scoring room as a reward. A special mention to Murray Hicks' daughter who was assigned by Annie to check Stuart's arithmetic for the IRB days. All I'll say is that it seems she paid more attention to her maths teacher than Stuart did at her age.
It was good to see the number of juniors shooting over the week-end. At the meeting on Saturday night a motion was passed to start a Junior Shooter of the Year for which Brett Wilson has agreed to donate a trophy.

Thanks Dig. I'm glad the wind turned up to order. We seem to be getting a reputation for wind but the cream still rises to the top.

Congratulations Sully

Congratulations Sully

Highest score on both days, I’ve done that twice at IRB nationals so I do know how good that feels. But winning by 15 points I’m very impressed and I think that is the most dominant performance we have seen in any rimfire nationals in Oz. Now onto the world stage and kick some butt.

Certainly was most impressive...

On day 1 i went up to Sully and said that is the best shooting i have seen in crap conditions ever, on day 2 which was worse, i corrected myself and again went up to Sully and said i was wrong, today was the best shooting i have ever seen in crap conditions.

Winning formula

Well done Sully,

I guess many you were not there at the event would be wondering what gear you were using and who's undies do you prefer?
Love to know your Action, Barrel and tuner, Stock and ammo and scope that you used.

Also, did you just use wind flags or had a probe as well?

Thanks

Dave

Equipment

Dave
Sully is like Mr.Smiff. He's not real good with technology so I'll answer the questions.
Turbo V2, 3 lug action, Shilen rachet barrel, Huntsman tuner, Blainey stock, TENEX ammo, fixed 48x March scope and a BixNAndy trigger.
BRT Flags and no probes. Hates probes.
And for the undies, We'll probably never know. And we are all thankful for that I'm sure.

Thanks for posting all the details.

Must be the man in the undies and not the undies themselves that is making the difference.

Again, oustanding shooting.

Cheers

Dave
