SGY BRX Stock
SG&Y BR-X Stock
By Rob Carnell May 2006

As is quite usual in benchrest, I decided I needed a change!
I emailed Speedy Gonzales in Texas, and a couple of months later, I was the proud owner of one of his new generation stocks.
This is not my first Speedy stock, I had one on my Nesika for a few years and always liked the way it felt.
The stock as shipped was true to the website, it was mirror finish. My stock seems identical to the one shown in the picture below.
Stock was supplied with a very nicely fitted butt plate, and has a hole in the butt for a weight system.
The stock was supplied with the milled slot for the viper drop port, but needed milling to suit the trigger and trigger guard, as well as relief for the bolt relief, loading port and bolt.
Naturally these cutouts cause a blemish in the stock, but Speedy sends a small pot of pigment which can be added to some epoxy glue to fix the colour scheme.
I could find nothing to fault, and I cant wait to try it in a match. The only drawback is if you do not have a mill, there is a bit of work to do by hand, but I guess a dremel would have accomplished the same job.
I can thoroughly recommend the SG&Y stock for any potential benchrest project.
