After 7 years of running & organising Rimfire Benchrest Australia, Peter Armstrong has decided to take a well earned rest. I take this opportunity to thank Peter for what he has achieved & done for our sport.
I am happy to advise that the NSWSARAI Council has decided to take over & run Rimfire Benchrest Australia from January 1, 2011. This gives members & clubs another choice in rimfire benchrest shooting disciplines & targets. It will also give members a chance to officially represent Australia @ World Championships held every 4 years & also World Postal events that are held every year. RBA will be the ONLY member body aligned to the World body, more information can be found on www.wrabf.com.
We look forward to growing this not only in NSW but also nationally with the view that TRA might see fit to take it over in the future. We plan to have a demonstration event as part of the benchrest at this years NSWSARAI 2010 NSW Championships so people will be able to try the event & the target. Obviously from 2011 onwards to shoot in the NSWSARAI-RBA matches that will be set, you will need to be a member of your state small bore association. I see this not as a competion to IRB or SSAA but as another option for people to shoot & help grow rimfire benchrest shooting. I am hoping that people who are not membes will take the opportunity to consider also becoming a member of their state smallbore body in addition to other memberships they may already have.
