South Coast Fly Championships 29 & 30th October 2011 Batemans Bay SSAA range 200 and 500 Metre Fly Batemans Bay Branch of SSAA will be hosting the “South Coast Fly Championships” on the weekend of the 29th and 30th October 2011 at the Deep Creek Shooting Complex (41/2 klm South of the Batemans Bay Bridge, turn right into SSAA road). This will be a registered event and count toward SOTY.

There seems to be some confusion often about what actually are THE RULES FOR 1,000 YARDS BENCHREST COMPETITION in Australia. Other alternatives or private competitions are being promoted and that confuses the issue. So it would be hard for many people to know exactly what is actually the rules for events held in Australia. The NRAA in Australia is the official organisation. So the official rules approved by the NRAA originally in 2008 and confirmed again early this year are on their website http://www.nraa.com.au/ Go to Publications and then SSR's (Standard Shooting Rules). Section 22

Congratulations to Dan Lynch of the Brisbane Club for establishing a new Australian International 1000yd BR Lightgun record of 3.071". From 2012 onwards, the new standard for the accomplishment of a “Smiley” (our version of the IBS “Screamer” award) will be less than 3" for LG and less than 5" for HG. As per the IBS updated Screamer standards introduced in 2011.

Hi All 1000 yd bench rest shooters i would like to know how many of you would like to take your targets that you have shot home with you after the shoot just like you can with the 500 m Fly targets if you had just shot a very high score or small group at a big shoot -- don't you think the target would look great on your wall -- the cost of these targets can be covered in the nominations and i think most shooters would be happy with that

The Narromine Dubbo Rifle Club was pleased to host 19 competitors for the 3rd bi-monthly 1000yd BR match of 2011.

Conditions were slightly chilly and breezy which ensured that all competitors had to use their concentration and wind reading skills to the maximum, to keep all shots on paper.
